Short Mat Bowling
Run under the English Short Mat Bowling Association Rules
You are invited to come along and learn a sport that's suitable for all ages.
The game "takes minutes to learn and a lifetime to master". Of course, players from novice to expert are also welcome.
It appears slow but does involve gentle physical and a lot of mental exercise.
And it's addictive! We have spare bowls so no equipment is needed.
To protect the surface of the mat all we ask is that you bring along shoes without heels, or slippers. Teams are drawn each meeting so you will receive plenty of support and guidance and partner players with a wide range of experience making for interesting games!
We play all year round. Some members are happy to come occasionally, some play at other venues and outdoors during the summer season. Our Club is affiliated to the English Short Mat Bowls Association giving an opportunity to play in league matches and be invited to represent Derbyshire in county matches.
The facilities at the Village Hall are ideal, the room is warm and airy, plenty of seating and the kitchen is available for a hot or cold drink and a biscuit during a break.
